The six Ferrocarrils resorts, together, plan to open almost all of the ski areas this weekend.
The good condition of the slopes, the constant work of the resort staff and the forecast of more snowfall predict a good end to the season with the ski areas in optimal operation until Easter.
The ski and mountain resorts of Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC) are experiencing a peak moment of the winter season thanks to the generous snowfalls that have transformed the landscapes into authentic winter prints. After the snowfalls of storm Jana last weekend, which left significant thicknesses, the precipitation in the form of snow these days, added to the constant work of the ski technicians, have ensured unbeatable conditions until Easter.
La Molina, in the eastern Pyrenees, is preparing for an exceptional weekend, with 100% of its skiable area operational. Skiers and snowboarders will be able to enjoy 66 open slopes, totaling a total of 71 skiable kilometers, in optimal conditions.
The latest snowfalls have left between 15 and 25 cm of new snow, with accumulated thicknesses of between 50 and 140 cm of powder snow. In addition, the weather forecast announces an improvement in the weather, with periods of sunshine that ensure unbeatable conditions for practicing winter sports.
In addition to the total opening of the domain, La Molina will be the setting this weekend for the Catalan Alpine Ski Championships in the U16/U14 categories, where the best young skiers will compete in slalom, giant and parallel at the Solell stadium. This weekend, La Molina offers its maximum capacity to experience skiing at its best.
In Alta Ribagorça, the Boí Taüll resort is celebrating spectacular snowfalls that have left 140 cm of new snow since Saturday, March 8, and it is still snowing. The precipitation in the form of snow, together with the intense work of the resort teams, guarantees a weekend with excellent conditions.
The forecast for the weekend is to open 100% of the ski area, with snow depths ranging from 140 cm at the base of the resort to 240 cm at higher altitudes. Visitors will be able to enjoy 10 ski lifts, 43 slopes and 45 skiable kilometers.
As for the activities scheduled for this weekend, the tourist facility will host the 17th GER Interclubs Trophy, the FECOLL snail race and the Cow Boí Après-ski, with music and a good atmosphere to end the day in the high mountains.
Located in Pallars Sobirà, the Espot Esquí and Port Ainé resorts are experiencing an exceptional moment with snowfalls that guarantee a dream weekend for winter sports lovers. The layers of powder snow accumulated during the past weekend and the last few days have left a white landscape in both resorts. Espot Esquí records between 70 and 145 cm of powder snow. This Friday morning, at 8 a.m., the resort recorded 15 cm of new snow at altitude 2000 and more than 25 cm of new snow at higher altitudes.
Regarding the opening status, Espot Esquí has 18 of its 22 slopes open, totaling 20.45 skiable kilometers. The forecast is to expand the skiable area to 100% over the weekend if weather conditions allow. The Leisure Park will also be operational with all its activities.
Port Ainé, for its part, has snow depths that range between 100 and 210 cm. Early in the morning, it had 25 cm of new snow at altitude 2000 and more than 30 cm of new snow on Pic de l’Orri. It is currently snowing in both tourist facilities. Port Ainé has all its slopes, off-piste routes, ski mountaineering and snowshoe routes open, representing a total of 25.6 skiable kilometers. The Snowpark will be built during the weekend to open the three slopestyle lines. The Leisure Park will also be operational. On Sunday the 16th, a Salomon equipment test will be held all morning.
The forecast for the weekend is 100% powder snow at both resorts in the Palau region, with a notable drop in temperatures that will guarantee excellent snow quality. Stable weather will allow you to enjoy the best weekend of the season.
In Ripollès, Vallter celebrates the arrival of the snowfall with a weekend full of activities and snow of exceptional quality. The precipitation in recent days has left approximately 80 cm of new snow, with Sunday 9 March as the day of the most precipitation, when 60 cm was recorded.
The resort is opening its entire ski area, characterized by the very good quality of the snow. It will open 13 slopes, including the Xalet i Xemeneies slope, and 12.48 skiable kilometers to enjoy the powder snow. Looking ahead to the weekend, the forecast is to open 100% of the slopes and lifts. At the same time, the sledding area will be in operation, from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm.
As for the weekend's events, Vallter has prepared a calendar of activities for the whole family. On Saturday the 15th, it will organize the Snow Festival, with children's entertainment, a balloon bending workshop, photocall, live music and a lucky roulette. Next Saturday the 22nd there will be a ski helmet decoration workshop and on the 29th the Marmot Trophy will be held and the Kamikasse is pending a definitive date.
The Vall de Núria resort in Ripolle has received 28 cm of new snow, leaving a snow cover of 50-70 cm of powder-hard snow. The resort opens 10 slopes, which add up to a total of 6.56 skiable kilometers.
The forecast for the weekend is to maintain the current opening, with the possibility of opening the entire resort if conditions allow. In addition, the Leisure Park will be 100% operational.
Vall de Núria has prepared a weekend full of activities for everyone, both recreational and sporting: the Fontalba Social Race, the "The Magic of Movement" workshop, the Retrac experience, activities and gastronomy at La Cabana, a Xocolatada and a full moon snowshoeing outing.
